Compound Activity

We are transitioning from what matter is, into types of matter. We will be focusing on Compounds and Elements, two types of matter. First person to tell Mr. Williams Huskers rock gets a blue ticket, thanks for reading the blog. We will be working in small groups with lab materials, use safety procedures and be responsible.

Bell Ringer- Talk to your table group and come up with an explanation for what the Periodic Table is.

Review Properties, The Periodic Table

We will spend some time reviewing physical and chemical properties, if you need to complete your google slides there will be time to do that. Also we will introduce the periodic table. Next week we will start focusing on different types of matter and the periodic table will be an introduction into that.

Review Properties and Matter Vocab

We are going to review your google slides from yesterday and have a short discussion on properties. We also will complete a Kahoot to review our matter vocab words. Today is an early out schedule, classes are extremely short, please use your time wisely.

Physical and Chemical Properties

We will focus on properties today, not the property that you own but the properties that identify. Remember last week we briefly talked about what properties are and practiced giving a few examples. Today we are going to look at the two types physical and chemical. Please get your homework out from last week- Properties Activities 4 objects/4 properties, so I can check it off as you are completing the bell ringer.

Mass & Volume

We will spend the majority of class on mass and volume, figuring out what it is and practicing finding it. We will also review matter and atoms. Make sure you have your notebook, we will be taking a few notes.

Matter & Atoms

We are going to continue our investigation into what atoms are. We will begin with a review of what matter is. First person to tell Mr. Williams he is awesome gets a blue card. After investigating atoms, we will move to the other two components of matter mass and volume

What Is Matter?

We will be finishing up the airplane lab first. Focusing on sharing out ideas, research our initial claim and revising our claim. We will then move on to the Matter Unit, developing a beginning understanding of what matter is and completing the matter pretest.
