Severe Weather Safety

We will finish up how the four types of severe weather form and then move on to severe weather safety. You will be creating a safety poster over your choice of weather. I have attached the rubric to classroom.

Predicting Severe Weather

We are moving on to the last standard in our Human Impact Unit. We will be looking at how to predict severe weather, such as blizzards, thunderstorms, hurricanes & tornadoes. We will spend the next two weeks looking at these 4 types of severe weather, what they are, are to predict them & safety.

Final Reflection

Today we will complete the final reflection on the uneven distribution of resources on Earth and how they ended up that way. As you prepare to write this reflection think of the video The Last Mountain & the article we read last week over the distribution of resources.

Distribution of Resources

We will be spending the majority of class looking at how resources are distributed around the world and why? There is obviously an unequal distribution, but why? What has caused this unequal distribution? The first part of class will be spent analyzing and discussing a world map of the distribution of resources, followed up by an article.

We are going to look more specifically at the cause and effect of using resources, both renewable and nonrenewable. We will be using information from the The Last Mountain video to create cause and effect statements on both mining/using coal and using wind turbines for energy.

We will continue to watch The Last Mountain. Remember to focus on how mining for coal, specifically mountaintop removal affects Earth. We will continue to stop the video periodically to discuss what we see.

We will be watching the video The Last Mountain. It is a video involving the removal of coal, we will be looking at the processes they use and how it impacts Earth. You will have a list of questions to answer as we watch the video. We will stop periodically to discuss them and reflect.
