11/23-24/15 Finalize Books & Finish Any Assessments

Today is the last day to finalize your Children's Book. Also please check your overall grade, a handful of you need to go back and make some changes to your investigation packet. I have left you comments on your packet for what you need to improve. If you need help please let me know the final reflection is an assessment for whether matter can be created or destroyed.

11/19-20/15 Make Revisions and Complete Final

If necessary continue with your peer editing, once you are done use the feedback from your classmates to make any changes to your book that are needed. After that review your book and look over the rubric, which is attached to the blog under resources. Once you have looked over the book and are confident you have everything turn it in. After that you have one of two choices 1) you can use one of the following sites to create and publish a real book.

2) you can pick one of the two Current Science Magazines and read 2-3 articles and compete article reviews over them.

11/18/15 Peer Editing

You will work with your classmates to peer edit your book, I have created a peer editing checklist to go through and guide you through the process. Please take this very seriously, you are providing your classmates with important feedback and hopefully helping them to get an A/A+. Also I have your investigation over can matter be created or destroyed in the gradebook. Some of you need to go back and make changes to the packet. I have left you comments on what you need to do.

11/16-17/15 Finish Page Layout & Rough Draft

Please start working on your page layout when you get in the class. Once I have taken attendance I will show you have to create a work cited page for the images you are using in your book. After you finish your page layout you need to independently start your rough draft. Your rough draft is due Wednesday. All you should need to do is copy your information from your page layout into the Children's Book google slides in classroom. You DO NOT need transitions or animations remember each slide is a page of a book not a slide of a presentation.

11/12-13/15 Continue Working on Book Outline & Page Layout

We will continue to work on your book outline. It should be completed during the 1st half of class. Remember your outline does not have to be exactly word for word what you are going to put in your book. It is an over view of the general info you are going to put in the book. When you are done with the outline please show it to me and then you can move on to your page layout.  Use the sources that are available to you on the blog - matter graphic organizer, matter vocab notes, properties PowerPoint & your packet. There is no Bell Ringer today, start on your outline when you get in the class. NO GAMES.

11/11/15 Children's Book Outline

We will get started on our final project of the matter unit today. Your performance assessment is writing a book about matter for lower elementary students, 1st & 2nd graders. We will go over the rubric today and I will demonstrate how make an outline.

11/9-10/15 Finish Up Matter Discussion & Final Project

Now that we have finished our investigation packet we will spend a little time talking about the Big Bang Theory, Dark Matter & any other topics that you are interested in. The rest of the time will be spent talking about the expectations of the final project.

Finish Investigation

Today will be the last day that you have class time to work on your investigation packet. We will be finalizing your sources and completing your final claim and evidence. Please refer to the rubric at the bottom of the packet before you turn it in. After you are done with the packet I have a variety of other topics that you can investigate depending on your interest, they will be listed on the board.

We will have a class discussion on what you have found out about can matter be created or destroyed. have your packet it open so that you can provide evidence based on the sources you have found. Remember it is an early out so we are extremely limited on time, please be ready to go right after you complete the bell ringer.

11/2-3/15 Classmates Notes

With everyone finished up with their test we will take a good chunk of the time today to discuss your findings. We will fill out the section on how your classmates ideas compared to yours. You will also have some time research and work on your sources. Remember what we talked about on Friday about sources and source reflections.
