We will start our investigation on cells today. You will be looking at various cells and comparing them. Are all cells the same? Before the investigation we will review your study guide and make sure that everything is accurate. Remember you have a quiz on Wednesday.

We will focus on the lab from earlier this week and compare bot the cheek (animal) cell and plant cells we looked at. We will also spend some time looking at the 5 main organelles you will be quizzed on next week.

Unicellular/Multicellular & Cheek Cell Lab

We will spend the first 15-20 minutes reviewing over similarities and differences of unicellular and multicellular organisms, you will fill out a study guide over them and the 5 main organelles later this week. The rest of class we will focus on the cheek cell lab. You will have the opportunity to look at your very own cheek cells. As we go through this lab what parts (organelles) of the cheek cell can you see?

Organelles & Microscopes

We will finish up the organelle fill in the blank and discuss some of the more important organelles. The second half of class will be using the microscopes. I will show you some basic handling skills and how to use the microscope. Today will mainly be practice, you will need to work on focusing the scope on the three different powers.

We will be looking at the different cell organelles today. Organelles are similar to our organs, each has a specific job to help them survive. You will be completing a fill in the blank document over the different organelles. If anyone was absent on Thursday/Friday please make sure to make up the quiz over living things.

You will spend the first half of class going through the 6 Characteristics of Living Things Blendspace. Remember any notes in your notebook can be used for the quiz, which will be the second half of class.

We are starting our final unit of the year, Molecules to Organisms. We will start the unit looking at what it takes to be considered living.

Bell Ringer -
1)     Copy the graphic organizer on the board into your notebook
2)      Brainstorm characteristics that all living things need.

Is Weather Predictable

We will wrap up our unit on severe weather and its predictability today. We will break into small groups based on your topic and look at how your weather forms and if it is predictable. We will use the bell ringer from yesterday to start the class discussion. You will not be in your regular seating chart, set at the tables with your topic.

Finalizing Safety Poster/Making up Work

We will spend the first few minutes of class discussing the different types of severe weather. The remainder of class will be used to finish your weather poster, make up any missing assessments/redo assessments or working on outside work. THERE WILL BE NO GAME TIME, if you are done with everything you can read.
