Energy and States of Matter

We will finish with states of matter and how energy changes matter from one state to another. We will go over the specific names of the changes and whether energy was added or removed to complete it.

We will continue are discussion on states of matter and what makes them change. We will finish up the States of Matter Foldable, look at the changes diagrams & complete the Change of State Cut/Paste. All three of these activities will help you predict and explain what happens when you add or remove energy to a substance.

We will spend the next few classes focusing on the states of matter. We will specifically look at how the particles in each state act and respond to energy. So not only know what the states are, but how they change.

We will be wrapping up the marshmallow molecule activity and types of matter mini unit. You an your partner will answer a few questions over the marshmallow molecule activity and types of matter unit. We will talk about a few careers in science involving matter and you will complete an activity on a specific element.

We will be creating molecules out of marshmallows today. To wrap up our unit on types of matter; elements, compounds, solutions & mixtures we are going to create each of them at a molecular level. You will be providing a short explanation for each type of matter as well.

We just finished up the types of matter and are going to take a class period to talk about density. We are going to look at what density is and how to find density. Remember this is another example of a way to identify matter.

Mixture Activity

We are going to focus on the final type of matter that we will work with this unit, mixtures.  We will have a short discussion over solutions and figure out exactly how we created a solution yesterday and then move on to the mixture activity for today.

We will go over your element notes to start class, please have your matter graphic organizer out and ready to go. After our notes we will complete the Solution Activity. You will have an opportunity to add information from the activity to your graphic organizer.
